Aix Island
Facing Boyardville , not far from the hotel-restaurant des Bains, Ile d'Aix sits proudly in the middle of the Strait of Pertuis of Antioche
Over the years, Ile d'Aix, one of the smallest municipalities of France, has become a major tourist site in Charente-Maritime.
On only 2 square kilometers, Ile d'Aix offers historical and geological heritage of uplifting diversity: three defensive military forts, beaches of fine sand, a small town of military design, holm oaks and pine, and 2 museums, the Napoleonic Museum and the African museum.
Another curiosity is that there are no cars on the island, except for a few vehicles. Indeed, visitors and even locals are moving monument to monument and site to site on foot or by bike, allowing you to enjoy the peace and listen live on the island.
To get there, the ship of Fouras performs crossings every 20 minutes.
