Chassiron Lighthouse
At the extreme north of Île d'Oleron, discover the Chassiron lighthouse, known as the lighthouse at the end of the world.
After climbing the 224 steps of the spiral staircase, you can make the most of the circular balcony to admire the exceptional panoramic view of the islands, the coast, the open sea and the Pertuis d'Antioche, the stretch of water between the islands of Ré and Oléron. Don't forget to visit the small museum in the room near the entrance.
Take a walk on the cliffs surrounding the lighthouse to see, at low tide, the famous fishing locks, stone walls that trap fish when the tide turns.
